Updates
Updates & Compatibility
Chromebooks receive updates from Google until a specific date called the Auto Update Expiration (AUE).
Each model has a different AUE date
After the AUE:
The device will still work
It will no longer receive system or security updates
Some apps and features may stop working over time
If updates are important to you, we recommend checking the model’s AUE before purchasing
The device will continue to function, but:
It may become slower over time
Some apps may not install or update
Security updates will no longer be provided
No. Chromebooks are designed to run ChromeOS and are not compatible with Windows in standard use.

Try the following:
Restart the device
Close unused tabs and apps
Make sure storage is not full
Older models may have slower performance due to hardware limitations.
Check your internet connection
Make sure your Google account and password are correct
Restart the device and try again
I cannot install apps
This may happen if:
The app is not compatible with your device
The Chromebook is no longer receiving updates (AUE)
My Wi-Fi is not working
Restart your Chromebook
Restart your router
Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network
You can change the language in the settings menu.

Powerwash
Resetting Your Chromebook (Powerwash)
You can reset your device using a Powerwash (factory reset):
Sign out of your Chromebook
Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R
Click Restart
Select Powerwash
Click Continue
What is a Powerwash?
A Powerwash resets your Chromebook to factory settings.
It can help fix:
Slow performance
Login issues
Software problems
Will I lose my data?
Yes. A Powerwash will erase all data on the device.
Make sure your files are saved to your Google account or backed up before resetting.
Developer Mode is an advanced feature that allows deeper access to the system.
It is intended for experienced users
It may disable certain security features
It is not required for normal use
We do not recommend enabling Developer Mode unless you fully understand its purpose.
